ICBA pushes for harmonization of cyber incident reporting rules

June 22, 2026 / By ICBA

ICBA told federal regulators that community banks support strong cybersecurity but pushed for a process where information can be shared across the appropriate federal agencies.

Details: Speaking at a Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency town hall Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act (CIRCIA) rulemaking, ICBA Vice President of Operational Risk Anjelica Dortch said:

  • ICBA has long supported CIRCIA and the importance of timely cyber incident reporting.

  • Community banks understand that information sharing is essential to protecting critical infrastructure and strengthening our collective cybersecurity posture.

  • As CISA finalizes CIRCIA, ICBA encourages the agency to look for opportunities to streamline, harmonize, and eliminate duplicative reporting requirements wherever possible.
